SRT gears up for surge in passengers over New Year period
Huge numbers of people began to board trains at the Hua Lamphong station in Bangkok on Friday (December 27) to return to their hometowns for the New Year holidays.
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has added one to two passenger cars to trains and provided an additional eight special train services to cater to the rush.
The special trains will make four trips from Bangkok on December 28 to 29 and four return trips on January 1 to 2.
Passengers using train services from December 28 to January 2 will receive a cloth bag as a souvenir.
