Alcohol-based hand sanitisers declared a controlled product

The Central Committee for Prices of Goods and Services has declared hand sanitisers that have alcohol as an ingredient a controlled product, according to a Ministry of Commerce announcement in the Royal Gazette on Friday (March 5).

Under the Prices of Goods and Services Act BE2542, controlled goods cannot be sold at a price higher than that specified by the Central Committee. Furthermore, the manufacturers, importers, exporters and distributors of such products must submit the information on cost, price and net volume to the Central Committee, as well as clearly display the price on the containers or shelves.
The law will be enforced throughout the Kingdom for one year from the announcement date.
Violation of the Prices of Goods and Services Act is punishable by up to seven years in prison or a Bt140,000 fine, or both.
