Satun is imposing a lockdown from Friday (April 3), prohibiting people from entering or leaving the province.
Weeranan Phenjan, the governor of Satun, issued the order on Thursday, allowing only movement of people for medical treatment, transportation of necessary goods and medical supplies, ambulances and government vehicles from April 3-30.
Satun has reported no cases of Covid-19 so far. But as a province bordering Malaysia, and with neighbouring Pattani province reporting 44 cases, Satun is trying to insulate itself from the outbreak.
