“I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of Boonsong, who has been a village health volunteer for more than 34 years. We have lost a good man who has made sacrifices for the people and local communities. He deserves the highest honour and our deepest gratitude,” said Prayut.
Boonsong lost his life in a road accident on Wednesday (April 22) while he was riding a motorcycle to distribute face masks and hand sanitisers to people in remote areas.
“The government will make sure to provide his family with suitable benefits as per what is prescribed for officials killed in the line of duty. Boonsong is one of millions of health volunteers nationwide who are responsible for improving the Covid-19 situation in Thailand in the past months,” he added.
