
Thailand’s Finance Ministry plans to submit reform proposals for eight state enterprises to the Cabinet on September 22, 2026, with mergers and closures among the options under review. Dr Tibordee Wattanakul, director-general of the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO), said the proposals followed a review of the enterprises’ roles, aimed at improving operations and adapting to changing economic conditions.
The State Enterprise Policy Committee had previously approved a study examining dissolution and merger options for the eight enterprises. The review aims to improve value for money and efficiency, reduce duplication and ensure that operations match each organisation’s remit.
The Finance Ministry’s proposals cover the following eight state enterprises, Tibordee said:
Dr Tibordee said proposals to address MCOT’s problems would form part of the submission, with details of the company’s management plan to be explained after Cabinet approval.
“Please wait for clarity after Cabinet approval. There will definitely be an explanation,” Tibordee said of the plan to address MCOT’s problems.
