State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will resume services on some train routes after most of the services were shut down to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as per the government’s policies, SRT governor Nirut Maneephan said.

“Currently there are only 12 trains running to northern and eastern provinces, making the platforms and trains crowded, as a result SRT is unable to enforce social distancing,” he said. “The SRT therefore has decided to add eight more trains to selected destinations from April 28 [Tuesday] to facilitate commuters' travel and enhance efficiency in Covid-19 prevention.”

Train No 317 Bangkok-Lopburi started running from Tuesday.
Trains that will resume from Wednesday (April 29) are:
- No 318 Lopburi – Bangkok
- No 339 Bangkok – Kaeng Khoy
- No 340 Kaeng Khoy – Bangkok
- No 379 Bangkok – Hua Ta Khe
- No 380 Hua Ta Khe – Bangkok
- No 389 Bangkok – Chachoengsao
- No 390 Chachoengsao – Bangkok
