Thailand reported six new Covid-19 cases for the second successive day -- the lowest in over a month -- over a 24-hour period, and there were no deaths, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Saturday (May 2).

It was the sixth consecutive day of single-digit new cases.
The total number of Covid-19 patients increased to 2,966, of whom 2,732 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 54 deaths.

Of the six new cases, two contracted the virus from previously confirmed patients; one is a woman aged 22 in Phuket, and another a man aged 48 in Bangkok.
Two others cases are women from Phuket, aged 21 and 58.
The other two returned from overseas and are in state quarantine. One of them is a man, 52, who returned from Japan on April 21.
