Tesco Lotus ready to hire 10,000 more workers if hourly employment allowed
Tesco Lotus aims to hire another 10,000 temporary workers if the Ministry of Labour would pass an hourly employment law, Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin Sompong said.
He made the remark while overseeing the company's business operations at the Tesco Lotus head office and Sukhapiban 1 branch. He also discussed cooperation to create careers amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Tesco Lotus is ready to hire another 10,000 temporary workers to perform duties at its branches nationwide and support the opening of new branches if we issue the hourly employment law," he said.
"Currently, the company has over 50,000 workers nationwide, while they have organised a project to hire students and retirees as well."
Tesco Lotus has 2,046 branches of which 411 are middle and large stores and 1,635 are express stores. This year, the company opened 63 new express branches, while 90 existing express branches were renovated.
The company also has an online channel to enable people to order goods via the website, Tesco Lotus Shop online smartphone application, Lazada and Shopee marketplaces, and Chat and Shop Line official account.
