This tradition has been preserved by the Thai-Raman people for over a hundred years to mark the end of the Buddhist Lent.

The tradition reflects the Buddhist faith as well as way of life and cultural identity of Thai people who in the past went on their journeys by boats, while monks also came rowing boats to receive alms from villagers.
