Gold starts steady after declining last week
The price of gold was unchanged in morning trade on Monday after rising by Bt50 per baht weight at close on Saturday, the Gold Traders Association reported.
Gold price had dropped by Bt400 per baht weight last week.
As of 9.22am, the buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,700 per baht weight and selling price Bt25,800, while gold ornaments were priced at Bt25,241.40 and Bt26,300, respectively.
Spot gold price dropped to US$1,812 (Bt54,420) per ounce in the morning after rising by $21.8 to $1,813 per ounce on Friday, thanks to mass buy-ups of safe-haven assets after the US non-farm payrolls increased slightly in January this year.
Hong Kong gold price rose by HK$40 to $16,770 (Bt64,961) per tael, the Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange Society reported.
