6,000 jabs deployed to tackle Thong Lor cluster

6,000 jabs deployed to tackle Thong Lor cluster

Health authorities will use 6,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to tackle the cluster-infection linked with nightspots in Thong Lor district, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said on Monday.

The doses would come from the second batch of 100,000 jabs recently delivered to Thailand, said BMA spokesman Pongsakorn Kwanmuang following an urgent meeting at Bangkok City Hall.

Of the 100,000 jabs, 66,000 will be administered to people who have already received their first dose, and 24,000 to medical personnel. The remaining 10,000 doses will be split to tackle Bangkok’s Bang Khae cluster (4,000 doses) and the Thong Lor cluster (6,000).

"The BMA is now considering where to set up Covid-19 vaccination points," said the spokesman.

He added that the BMA is also considering whether entertainment venues should be closed during the upcoming Songkran festival.
