Govt should borrow over Bt2 tn to tackle virus crisis, improve competitiveness: TDRI
The Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) suggested that the government borrow around Bt2.4 trillion to deal with the virus crisis and improve the country’s competitiveness post-Covid-19.
TDRI senior academic Nonarit Bisonyabut said the government should spend Bt400 billion – of the borrowed money – for helping around 30 million people affected by Covid-19.
He added that the rest of the money should go for long-term investment in order to improve Thailand’s competitiveness after the virus crisis ends.
