Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya has designed Thailand’s ceremonial uniforms for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, combining contemporary tailoring with traditional Thai textile craftsmanship based on the concept of “The Art of Unity”.
SIRIVANNAVARI has unveiled the designs that Thailand’s delegation will wear at the opening ceremony of the Games in Japan. The sporting event will run from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
As Creative Director of SIRIVANNAVARI, the Princess undertook the project at the invitation of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, applying her vision for promoting Thai fashion internationally to the national team’s formal attire.
The designs reinterpret Thai textile heritage through a contemporary aesthetic, creating ceremonial uniforms intended to convey national identity and pride for more than 900 athletes and team staff.
The concept “The Art of Unity” represents the strength of togetherness and is embodied by several leading Thai sports figures.
They include badminton player Kunlavut Vitidsarn, taekwondo athlete Banlung Tubtimdang, volleyball player Pimpichaya Kokram and table tennis player Suthasini Sawettabut, alongside former taekwondo athlete Panipak Wongpattanakit.
At the heart of the collection is naturally indigo-dyed handwoven cotton from the “Don Koi Model”, a sustainable village initiative in Sakon Nakhon, combined with woven cotton from the SUPPORT Foundation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother.
The textiles are intended to reflect the discipline, determination and precision of the weavers, qualities that parallel the intensive preparation and training required of athletes.
The ceremonial uniforms for both men and women comprise four carefully tailored pieces, bringing together an international silhouette with Thai and Japanese influences.
The collection brings community-based Thai craftsmanship into a contemporary ceremonial uniform, taking traditional textile knowledge from local weaving communities onto the Asian sporting stage while expressing a shared sense of Thai identity and pride.
