Thailand’s national record-holder Puripol Boonson will launch his men’s 100-metre campaign at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya on Thursday (September 24), with his opening heat scheduled for 6.08pm Thai time at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.
Known to Thai fans as “Bew”, Puripol will run in Heat 1 as he begins another bid for an Asian Games medal three years after taking silver in Hangzhou. Fellow Thai sprinter Chutithat Pruksorranan is scheduled for Heat 6 at 6.48pm Thai time.
Puripol returns with 9.94-second Thai record
Puripol enters Aichi-Nagoya 2026 as Thailand’s 100m national record-holder after clocking 9.94 seconds in the heats at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, becoming the first Southeast Asian man to break the 10-second barrier. He later won the SEA Games final in 10.00 seconds.
The Thai sprinter is also looking to improve on his previous Asian Games performance. Puripol won silver in Hangzhou in 2023 with a wind-assisted 10.02 seconds, behind China’s Xie Zhenye, before reaching the men’s 100m semi-finals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he ran 10.14.
Puripol has shown strong form during his 2026 preparations. During a training and competition stint in the Czech Republic, he clocked 9.99 seconds at the Velká cena Litomyšle meeting on August 1 before winning the 100m at Opava in 10.35 seconds on August 15.
Thai athletes contest sprint and triple jump events
Thailand also has several athletes competing in the evening athletics session on September 24.

Tawan Kaeodam had originally been listed for the men’s high jump qualifying round on Thursday, but his competition has been moved to the final on September 27.
Thailand’s mixed 4x400m relay team competed earlier on Thursday morning, recording 3 minutes 23.94 seconds and failing to advance to the final.
