Temperatures could rise to 43 °C today, Meteorological dept warns

MONDAY, APRIL 22, 2024

Much of Thailand will experience extreme heat today (April 22), the Thai Meteorological Department warns, with temperatures in some areas likely to peak at 43°C. Scattered thunderstorms are possible, particularly in the southern region, with rainfall covering around 30% of the area.

The Bangkok metropolitan region will bake under partly cloudy skies with a maximum temperature of 41°C.

The public are advised to take care of their health and avoid working outdoors or engaging in outdoor activities for extended periods.

The southwest monsoon and southern winds covering the upper part of Thailand may bring thunderstorms and strong gusts to certain areas while westerly and northwest winds over the Andaman Sea and the southern region, combined with the easterly winds and southeast winds covering the lower Gulf of Thailand, will lead to increased rainfall in the lower south. Waves in the Andaman Sea are approximately 1 metre high, higher in thunderstorms. Vessels should navigate with caution.

Particulate matter (PM) levels in the Northern, Northeastern, and Upper Central regions will range from moderate to relatively high due to the accumulation of dust/smog.
