Upper Thailand expected to see warmer temperatures

Thailand is experiencing a shift in weather patterns as the recent cold spell subsides, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
It forecast a rise in temperatures in the upper regions of the country from Sunday.

While the North is warming up, the southern region continues to be battered by heavy rainfall. Nine provinces are currently experiencing severe weather conditions, with the monsoon bringing heavy rainfall to the area. Residents in these provinces are advised to be cautious of flash floods and landslides, particularly in hilly and low-lying areas, the department said.

The department has issued warnings for seafarers in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. Strong winds and high waves are expected, particularly in the lower Gulf of Thailand. Small boats are advised to remain in port until Sunday.

In the coming days, the cold air mass is expected to weaken further, leading to milder temperatures in the North and Central regions. However, the monsoon will continue to influence the weather in the South, bringing more rain and potential flooding.

Weather forecast for different regions

  • Upper Thailand: Cool mornings, warming temperatures, and potential fog.
  • Northeast: Cool to cold weather, especially in mountainous areas.
  • Central: Cool mornings, warm afternoons.
  • East: Cool mornings, warm afternoons, and rough sea conditions.
  • South (East Coast): Heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas.
  • South (West Coast): Heavy rain and rough seas.

The department advised residents to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
