Thai army shares Preah Vihear drone strike video on Sept 15

The Thai army alleges Cambodian troops used the Preah Vihear World Heritage area as a military base to launch attacks into Thailand

  • The Royal Thai Army released a video on September 15 showing its Falcon Team drone unit striking Cambodian military targets near the Preah Vihear temple.
  • The footage reportedly shows the destruction of Cambodian military assets, including counter-drone systems, communications towers, and military positions.
  • The Thai army claims the strikes were a response to Cambodian forces using the UNESCO World Heritage site to launch attacks on Thai territory.

The Royal Thai Army released a video on September 15, 2026, which it said showed drone strikes by the Second Army Area’s Falcon Team against Cambodian military targets in and around Preah Vihear temple.

The Thai army presented the footage under the title “Truth from Preah Vihear”, accompanied by the Thai subtitle “The truth Cambodia dares not admit”. The army said the release illustrated the situation and Thai military operations in the area.

Army describes strikes on equipment and military positions

According to the Thai army, the video looks back at missions in which its drone unit destroyed Cambodian counter-drone systems, signal-jamming systems, communications towers, military equipment and military positions in and around Preah Vihear temple.

Army alleges Cambodian attacks from World Heritage area

The Thai army alleged that Cambodian troops had used the area around Preah Vihear for military purposes, establishing positions from which to attack Huai Ta Maria and Pha Mo I Daeng on the Thai side of the border. Preah Vihear temple is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Thai army said its operations targeted the military facilities involved to halt those attacks and reduce Cambodian forces’ ability to carry them out.
