Bangkok and central Thailand face heavy rain as thundershowers continue

The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts thundershowers across Thailand, with isolated heavy rain in Bangkok, surrounding areas and parts of the Central region.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecast thundershowers across all regions over the next 24 hours, with isolated heavy rain expected in parts of the Central region, including Bangkok and its surrounding areas.

In its forecast issued at 5pm on Saturday (October 31), the department advised residents in affected areas to beware of thundershowers and heavy rain.

The weather conditions are being driven by easterly winds prevailing over the Gulf of Thailand, the country and the Andaman Sea, while the high-pressure system, or cold air mass, from China covering upper Thailand and the South China Sea is weakening.

The department also warned that waves in both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand could exceed two metres in areas experiencing thundershowers. Mariners were advised to check their routes, navigate with caution and avoid sailing through stormy areas.
