TMD warns of thunderstorms across 41 provinces on Oct 30

The Thai Meteorological Department warns upper Thailand and the South of thunderstorms and flash floods on October 30, 2026, urging caution against gusty winds.

  • The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, gusty winds, and potential flash floods across 41 provinces for October 30.
  • The severe weather is caused by a combination of a low-pressure system over the Andaman Sea, easterly winds, and a high-pressure system from China.
  • Upper Thailand, including Bangkok and the Eastern region, is vulnerable, while the Southern region is expected to be most affected with heavy rain and 60% thunderstorm coverage.
  • Mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid navigating through stormy areas where waves may exceed two meters.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a nationwide weather advisory for October 30, 2026, warning residents across 41 provinces to brace for thunderstorms, gusty winds, and potential flash floods or forest runoffs.

While rainfall in the South is expected to decrease, heavy downpours will still hit isolated areas. Meanwhile, upper Thailand—including Bangkok, its surrounding metropolitan area, and the Eastern region—remains vulnerable to severe weather conditions.

Weather Systems Driving the Advisory

According to the TMD, these conditions are driven by a low-pressure area over the Andaman Sea that is projected to move into the Bay of Bengal. This system is coupled with easterly winds prevailing over Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand, alongside a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China extending over upper Thailand and the South China Sea.
