The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) warned on October 29, 2026, of very heavy rain in parts of four provinces in southern Thailand, with persistent rainfall raising the risk of flash floods and run-off.
The TMD’s forecast covers the 24 hours from 6am on October 29 to 6am on October 30, Thai time. Thundershowers are expected over 70% of each southern coastal region, with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas.
The TMD urged people in rain-affected areas to beware of thundershowers, heavy downpours and accumulated rainfall, particularly on foothill slopes near waterways and in low-lying areas vulnerable to flash floods and run-off.
The TMD attributed the conditions to a low-pressure area over the Andaman Sea and easterly winds across Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand. A high-pressure system, or cool air mass, from China also covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea.
The TMD forecasts isolated very heavy rain in three provinces along the southern east coast and one on the west coast, alongside heavy rain in eight other southern provinces.
Southern east coast: Heavy rain is forecast in parts of Phetchaburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung and Songkhla. Very heavy rain is expected in some areas of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Surat Thani. Minimum temperatures will be 23–24°C, with maximums of 30–33°C.
Southern west coast: Heavy rain is forecast in parts of Ranong, Phang Nga, Krabi and Trang, with very heavy rain in some areas of Phuket. Minimum temperatures will be 23–24°C, with maximums of 29–34°C.
The TMD forecasts thundershowers and isolated gusty winds in upper Thailand, particularly the Central region, Bangkok and surrounding provinces, and the East. Rain coverage varies by region:
North: Thundershowers over 10% of the area, mainly in Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit and Phetchabun. Minimum temperatures of 21–24°C and maximums of 33–36°C. Easterly winds at 10–20km/h.
Northeast: Thundershowers over 20% of the area, mainly in Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani. Minimum temperatures of 21–22°C and maximums of 32–35°C. Northeasterly winds at 10–25km/h.

East: Thundershowers over 40% of the area, with isolated gusty winds, mainly in Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat. Minimum temperatures of 22–25°C and maximums of 32–35°C. Northeasterly winds at 10–30km/h. Waves below 1 metre, rising above 2 metres in thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding provinces: Thundershowers over 40% of the area, with isolated gusty winds. Minimum temperatures of 25–26°C and maximums of 34–35°C. Easterly winds at 10–20km/h.
The TMD warned that waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand would rise above 2 metres in areas experiencing thundershowers. Wind and sea conditions along the southern coasts are forecast as follows:
Gulf coast from Chumphon northwards: Easterly winds at 15–30km/h, with waves around 1 metre and above 2 metres in thundershowers.
