Heavy rain forecast in southern Thailand could trigger flash floods and rapid run-off, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned, with thundershowers expected in parts of 36 provinces and Bangkok.
The forecast, issued on October 29, 2026, covers the period from 6pm on October 29 to 6pm on October 30.
Rain is expected to continue in the South, with isolated heavy to very heavy falls. Elsewhere, thundershowers and localised gusty winds are forecast in upper Thailand, particularly the Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East.
The department advised residents to take precautions against thundershowers, heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, especially on foothill slopes near waterways and in low-lying areas.
A low-pressure area over the Andaman Sea and easterly winds over Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand are contributing to the wet conditions. A high-pressure system, or cold air mass, from China is also covering upper Thailand and the South China Sea.
Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand should check conditions along their routes, navigate cautiously and avoid thundershowers, where waves could exceed two metres.
