Don Mueang flights unaffected by taxiway flooding on Sept 26

Flights at Don Mueang Airport were operating normally on September 26 despite flooding on part of its southern taxiway, according to Phisek Chayaphiwut, the airport’s deputy director at Airports of Thailand (AOT).

Phisek said heavy rain throughout the day had caused water to flow into the affected area. Airport officials notified airlines to avoid that section and deployed crews to pump water out continuously.
 

Drainage at Don Mueang remained limited because the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration had not yet lowered water levels in the surrounding Bang Bua, Khlong 2 and Prem Prachakon canals, Phisek explained.

Aircraft could still take off and land normally at Don Mueang, with no need to change schedules or postpone flights because of the taxiway flooding, Phisek confirmed.

Phisek urged passengers travelling to Don Mueang to allow extra journey time because flooding was disrupting road travel around the airport.
