A joint operation by Thailand’s Immigration Bureau and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has led to the arrest of a high-profile Chinese fugitive accused of leading a major transnational drug syndicate.

The suspect, identified as "Mr Wang", was apprehended at a luxury residence in the Bangkok Kreetha area. Preliminary financial checks revealed over 50 million baht (approx. US$1.5 million) in transactions passing through his bank accounts within a span of just a few months.

The raid followed formal coordination from the ONCB’s liaison office in Beijing, which flagged Mr Wang as one of China’s most-wanted narcotics fugitives.

Intelligence indicated that he functioned as a primary investor and procurement controller for an international network, smuggling maritime shipments of drugs—including cannabis—exceeding 80 kilograms per run from Thailand to China, where market prices are significantly higher.

Immigration Status and Trackdown

Biometric records show Mr Wang entered Thailand via the Satun Province Immigration Checkpoint on 22 June 2026 under a short-term visa.

He subsequently secured a Non-90 visa extension based on marriage to a Thai national, valid through 8 October 2026. Investigators tracked Mr Wang across several safehouses in Satun and Bangkok before pinpointing his location at the Bangkok Kreetha estate.

During the raid, officers found Mr Wang alongside a Thai woman and seized 13 items of evidence, including mobile phones, bank passbooks, and debit cards.

Visa Revocation and Legal Action

Following the arrest, immigration authorities formally revoked Mr Wang’s permission to stay in Thailand under the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979) on the grounds that his presence poses a threat to public peace, national security, and international law enforcement.

Immigration Bureau Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Nopphasin Poolsawat stated that the operation aligns with national crime suppression directives issued by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Police General Samran Nualma.

He reaffirmed that Thailand will not be used as a refuge for transnational criminals and that full legal proceedings will follow.
