Heavy rain flooded roads and low-lying areas in Thailand’s Phuket province on Sunday (October 25, 2026), disrupting traffic in three districts and leaving a section of Thepkrasattri Road impassable to small vehicles.
Rainfall continued from late morning, causing water to accumulate rapidly on roads in Thalang, Mueang Phuket and Kathu districts.
The flooding affected several routes used by residents and motorists, with drivers advised to exercise caution and avoid stretches where floodwater was too deep for vehicles to pass safely.
One of the most seriously affected locations was the outbound side of Thepkrasattri Road outside the Thai Watsadu store in Si Sunthon subdistrict, Thalang district.
Floodwater covered the road to a depth that prevented small vehicles from passing, prompting advice for motorists to avoid the affected section and use alternative routes.
Flooding was also reported at several other locations in Phuket:
Motorists travelling through these areas were advised to remain cautious because of water accumulating on road surfaces.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued the fourth weather advisory at 5am on Sunday, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in southern Thailand between October 25 and 28.
The warning covers provinces along the Andaman coast, including Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi, where continued rainfall could increase the risk of flooding.
The department warned that accumulated rainfall could trigger flash floods and rapid run-off, particularly in foothill areas, communities near waterways and low-lying locations vulnerable to flooding.
Residents in these areas were advised to remain alert to changing conditions as further heavy rainfall could cause additional water accumulation.
The department also warned of unsettled weather in upper Thailand between October 25 and 27, with thunderstorms and strong wind gusts expected in some areas.
Residents and motorists in Phuket have been advised to monitor weather warnings from the Thai Meteorological Department and updates from local authorities as rainfall continues.
Drivers should avoid attempting to cross flooded roads where the water depth cannot be assessed, particularly where water is flowing.
Motorists were also advised against driving through strong currents, which could endanger lives and damage vehicles.
Authorities have encouraged the public to remain cautious when travelling through flood-prone areas and to follow official weather and road-condition updates.
