DDPM warns of Phuket flood risks as Thailand faces more heavy rain

Residents in low-lying areas and near waterways and hillsides in Phuket face flood and landslide risks, while 336,472 households remain affected by flooding.

  • The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has warned Phuket residents of flash floods, landslides, and mudslides due to ongoing heavy rain.
  • Residents in at-risk areas, such as low-lying locations and near hills, are advised to move belongings to higher ground and monitor official updates.
  • The DDPM is using a Cell Broadcast system with mobile operators to send flood alerts directly to people in Phuket.
  • This specific warning for Phuket comes as the Thai Meteorological Department has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rain across many regions of Thailand.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) warned of continuing heavy rain in Phuket on Monday (October 26, 2026), while the Thai Meteorological Department issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rain in several areas.

Flooding in 20 provinces and Bangkok has affected 336,472 households, or 1,008,982 people.

Phuket faces flood and landslide risks

The DDPM warned Phuket residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas, beside waterways and at the foot of hills, to watch for flash floods, rapid run-off, landslides and mudslides, overflowing rivers and standing floodwater as heavy rain continues.

Residents should move belongings to higher levels, take precautions against electric shocks, look after vulnerable people and closely monitor official updates.

Those needing assistance can contact district chiefs, subdistrict headmen, village headmen, local authority executives and members, or community leaders, or call the 1784 hotline.

The DDPM has also worked with mobile network operators Advanced Info Service (AIS), True and National Telecom (NT) to send flood alerts to people in Phuket through the Cell Broadcast system.
