SRT introduces direct rail access to Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026

State Railway of Thailand introduces a temporary stop and additional air-conditioned carriages for visitors to Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is introducing direct train services to the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026, with a new temporary railway stop allowing visitors to reach the exhibition site without travelling through the city centre.

The international event will run from November 1, 2026, to March 14, 2027, at Nong Dae Wetland in Kut Sa subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani district. It is expected to provide a major boost to tourism and economic activity across northeastern Thailand.

SRT governor Anan Phonimdaeng explained that the railway authority had developed additional infrastructure to improve travel convenience, reduce journey times and ease traffic congestion during the exhibition.

The improvements include a temporary railway stop named Udon Thani Horticultural Expo Halt, featuring a platform more than 100 metres long.

Two level crossings have also been prepared to connect the exhibition areas on opposite sides of the railway line, with crossing surfaces installed to improve safety for vehicles and pedestrians.

The SRT has also improved the surrounding landscape, installed information signs and assigned personnel to supervise entry and exit points and assist passengers throughout the event.

Four trains to stop directly at expo site

To accommodate domestic and international visitors, the SRT will arrange for two express services and two local trains to stop at the temporary station in both directions.

An additional air-conditioned carriage will also be attached to local trains 415 and 418 throughout the exhibition period, from November 1 to March 14.

The four services and their scheduled arrival and departure times at the expo halt are as follows.

Rail services expected to boost regional tourism

Anan explained that the revised railway arrangements were designed not only to improve access for visitors but also to encourage travel between regions and distribute tourism revenue to local communities.

Businesses and vendors in Udon Thani and neighbouring provinces are expected to benefit from increased visitor spending during the exhibition.

The SRT views the initiative as an opportunity to support sustainable regional economic development through rail transport while making the international event more accessible to Thai and foreign tourists.
