HYROX creates a shared festival experience for racers and supporters

Competitors prepare for an average of three to four months before tackling eight 1-kilometre runs and eight workout stations, with overall costs potentially reaching THB100,000.

  • The event creates a festival-like atmosphere for participants and viewers by using special lighting, sound systems, and a live DJ.
  • HYROX is designed as a shared experience, attracting both competitors and paying spectators, with spectator tickets often selling out.
  • The costs involved for participants go beyond race entry, reflecting the value placed on the "wider HYROX experience" as a whole.

HYROX has attracted both competitors and paying spectators, with spectator tickets selling out.

The event uses a standardised race format alongside lighting, sound and a DJ, while spectator tickets start at THB400.

Founded in Hamburg, Germany, in 2017, HYROX was created to provide gym-goers with a standardised global competition comparable to marathon running.

Its “A Sport for Everybody” approach applies the same judging standards and equipment worldwide, allowing results from events in cities such as Bangkok and London to be compared on the same leaderboard.

Each race comprises eight 1-kilometre runs, each followed by one workout station, for a total of 8 kilometres and eight stations.

Exercises include rowing, pushing and pulling a weighted sled (Sled Push/Pull), and carrying a sandbag.

Competitors generally prepare for 3–4 months.

Entry fees range from THB4,000 to THB5,500, spectator tickets cost THB400 per person, and official and personal photographs cost THB1,500–3,000.

Gym fees range from THB1,500 to THB2,800 per month, while four months of specialist coaching can cost THB15,000–50,000.

Supplements, including whey protein and energy gels, cost THB6,000–12,000, while hybrid-race shoes and clothing cost THB4,000–20,000.

Overall spending can range from tens of thousands of baht to around THB100,000.

The costs reflect the value placed on the wider HYROX experience rather than race entry alone.

Competitors’ willingness to spend about THB50,000 to take part also reflects growing investment in health and lifestyle.
