Thailand opened their Asian Games 2026 women’s volleyball campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Mongolia in their first Pool C match in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Wednesday (September 16, 2026).
The Thai women won 25-12, 25-18 and 25-18 to secure all three points on the opening day of the women’s volleyball tournament, which runs from September 16-22.
Thailand take control with straight-set victory
Thailand established control by taking the opening set 25-12 before Mongolia offered greater resistance in the second.
The Thai team nevertheless closed out the second set 25-18 and repeated the score in the third to complete the match without dropping a set.
Thailand entered the Asian Games shortly after retaining the Asian women’s volleyball title and securing the country’s first Olympic qualification in women’s volleyball for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
Kyrgyzstan next for Thailand in Pool C
Thailand will return to the court on Thursday (September 17) for their second Pool C match against Kyrgyzstan at 5pm.
Thailand’s first-round group also includes Chinese Taipei, with the pool-stage matches taking place from September 16-18.
