Puripol powers to Asian Games 100m gold in record 9.90 seconds

Thai sprinter Puripol Boonson won the Asian Games men’s 100m gold in 9.90 seconds, breaking the Games record for a second time in Nagoya.

He secured the victory with a final time of 9.90 seconds.
His winning time set a new Asian Games record for the event.
Boonson had also broken the previous record in his semi-final with a time of 9.91 seconds.

Thai sprinter Puripol “Bew” Boonson won the men’s 100 metres gold medal at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Friday (September 25) after clocking a record-breaking 9.90 seconds in the final.

Competing at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium, Puripol reached the final after winning his semi-final in 9.91 seconds. That performance broke his previous Thai national record of 9.94 seconds and lowered the Asian Games record of 9.92 seconds.

Puripol went even faster in the final, crossing the line first in 9.90 seconds to break the Asian Games record again and secure the gold medal for Thailand.

Oman’s Ali Al Balushi took silver in 10.04 seconds, while compatriot Malham Al Balushi claimed bronze in 10.11 seconds.
