Thailand’s 2026 Michelin Key selection includes six three-Key hotels, 22 two-Key properties and 43 one-Key stays, spanning city, beach and boutique hotels
Michelin has awarded its "Key" distinction to 71 hotels and resorts in Thailand for its 2026 selection.
The awards are divided into three tiers: six hotels received the highest three-Key honor, 22 received two Keys, and 43 received one Key.
The recognized properties represent a diverse range of accommodation, including luxury city hotels, beachfront resorts, and smaller boutique stays reflecting local culture.
The selection is the result of months of anonymous inspections by the Michelin Guide team, which evaluated the overall quality of the guest experience.
The Michelin Guide’s Thai Key selection has grown to 71 hotels and resorts for 2026, including six properties awarded the highest distinction of three Keys. The awards form part of Michelin’s global selection unveiled on September 18. Thailand’s recipients span luxury city hotels, beachfront and island resorts, and smaller boutique properties reflecting local culture. The selection follows months of anonymous inspections assessing the quality of the stay experience.
Six Thai hotels receive the highest three-Key distinction
The six hotels awarded three Michelin Keys in Michelin’s 2026 Thailand selection are:
Capella Bangkok, Bangkok — promoted to three Keys this year.
Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, Bangkok.
The Siam, Bangkok.
Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai.
Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Krabi.
Amanpuri, Phuket.
Thailand’s 71 Michelin Key recipients are divided into three tiers, with first-time recipients and promotions included in the totals:
Three Keys: Six hotels, including one promoted to this level.
Two Keys: Twenty-two hotels, including one first-time recipient and four promoted properties.
One Key: Forty-three hotels, including 14 first-time recipients.
Five Thai recipients showcase riverside, island and boutique stays
Capella Bangkok, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, Villa Mahabhirom, Maison Mystique and Chiva-Som Hua Hin Resort illustrate the range of accommodation recognised across Thailand’s three award tiers.
Capella Bangkok, three Keys: Opened in 2020 on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River, Capella Bangkok combines the privacy and tranquillity of a resort with access to Bangkok’s historic centre. Landscaped gardens, a riverside swimming pool, restaurants and a spa complement rooms and suites featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, river views and private balconies. The interiors blend Eastern and Western influences, while attentive service, design and a strong sense of place underpin the hotel’s recognition.
Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, two Keys: Set on a lush hillside descending towards a private beach, the resort offers villas with expansive sea views, private infinity pools and elegant interiors. Beach relaxation, snorkelling and wellness experiences surrounded by nature form part of a stay that reflects Koh Samui’s coastal setting and the resort’s emphasis on service.
Villa Mahabhirom, Chiang Mai, one Key: Fourteen traditional Thai teak houses provide the accommodation at this retreat in a quiet residential neighbourhood. Each house is individually decorated with antiques and artworks celebrating Thai cultural heritage. Gardens, a relaxed atmosphere and food inspired by local ingredients contribute to the property’s distinctive character.
Maison Mystique, Khao Yai, one Key: A striking white façade and interiors influenced by classic European design give this boutique hotel a cinematic character. Individually designed rooms feature rich jewel colours, velvet furnishings and vintage details. The property’s venues include The Vivarium Dining Room, Bar Mystère and The Emerald Library Bar.
Chiva-Som Hua Hin Resort, one Key: The coastal wellness retreat combines luxury accommodation with a holistic approach to wellbeing. Set within seaside gardens, the resort offers comprehensive wellness programmes, spa treatments and quiet rooms designed around rest, recovery and physical and mental balance.
Global Michelin Key selection reaches 2,832 hotels
Worldwide, the 2026 selection comprises 2,832 hotels across 79 destinations: 155 with three Keys, 657 with two and 2,020 with one. Michelin added 470 first-time recipients and promoted more than 80 hotels to higher tiers, according to its official announcement.
Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, said the second global Key selection reflected strong momentum in hospitality. Increasingly creative and ambitious projects were raising the quality of accommodation, with hoteliers developing more immersive, personalised and meaningful experiences.
“This capacity for innovation is expressed both in must-visit destinations and in emerging tourist markets,” Poullennec said.
Poullennec highlighted visionary independent hoteliers as an important force behind new concepts that were influencing the wider industry. Investment by international hotel groups was helping accelerate that transformation.
The 2026 selection, Poullennec said, celebrated the industry’s diversity, vitality and excellence as operators continued to develop the stay experience and encourage travellers to discover new destinations.
Four special awards recognise distinctive hospitality
Michelin also presented four special awards covering architecture and design, wellness, new openings and connections with local places and culture:
Michelin Guide Architecture & Design Award: Desert Rock Resort in Umluj, Saudi Arabia, recognised for a property built into the landscape of the Hijaz Mountains.
Michelin Guide Wellness Award: Schloss Elmau Luxury Spa Retreat & Cultural Hideaway in Elmau, Germany, honoured for the breadth and variety of its approach to wellness.
Michelin Guide Opening of the Year Award: Airelles Palladio Venice in Venice, Italy, the brand’s first property outside France, overlooking the Giudecca Canal.
Michelin Guide Local Gateway Award: Londolozi Game Reserve in South Africa’s Greater Kruger area, recognised for its safari experiences and longstanding connection between guests, the landscape and local culture. The property is located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
