ThaiNamthip, the local bottler of Coca-Cola, has welcomed Prakorn Makjumroen, a former top Philips Electronics executive, as the point man for its non-carbonated-beverage business.

After spending almost 22 years in a variety of positions at Philips Electronics (Thailand), including the first Thai managing director, Prakorn left the local unit of the Dutch company to join ThaiNamthip Company, effective last September 1.
Prakorn’s successor at Philips Electronics (Thailand) is Viroj Vithayaveroj, who is acting managing director and also current general manager of the healthcare sector. Thanakorn Wongwises is acting general manager for the lighting sector.
Charnvit Charindhorn, ThaiNamthip senior vice president for new categories and new business development, said: “Khun Prakorn Makjumroen has joined our leadership team as vice president for new categories and new business development of ThaiNamthip Co.
“With his wealth of experience in marketing and in understanding Thai consumers, we are excited to welcome him to our team.
“Khun Prakorn will play an important role in growing our business and helping to strengthen the Coca-Cola system’s position as the leading non-alcoholic beverage business in Thailand.”
Prakorn graduated from Chulalongkorn University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering (communication and power systems), and also has a “mini MBA” from Thammasat University.
He joined Philips Electronics (Thailand) as a lighting engineer in 1989 and became responsible for project sales in 1991. He had also been manager of the company’s lighting design and application centre, sales manager and marketing manager.
In 1998, he was made general manager of Philips’ luminaires (electric lighting) business unit in Thailand and from 2002 to 2007 was director and general manager of Philips’ commercial lighting business in Indonesia.
Prakorn became managing director of Philips Electronics (Thailand) in July 2007.
