South Korea's ninemember national phenomenon wrap up their Asian tour with a Bangkok show

South Korean girl group Girls’ Generation wrapped up their second tour at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani on Sunday with a threehour show punctuated by deafening screams and singalongs from an audience of more than 10,000 faithful fans who snapped up tickets for the soldout show in less than 20 minutes.
The crowd started screaming from the moment the girl group’s songs rang out before the concert and kept on long after the show had ended. They rose to their feet en masse as the nine lovely lasses  Hyoyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Taeyeon, Tiffany, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seahyun – were introduced through the big screen on stage.
The big moment came when all the spotlights were trained at a container in the middle of the stage, which was slowly raised to reveal the nine lovely girls clad in sexy white costumes performing the remix version of “Genie”. They quickly followed up with “Youaholic” and “Mr Taxi”, singing the Korean version of these hit Japanese tracks. In the latter, the girls danced as if they were driving while the crowd waved their bright pink glow sticks in the air along to the rhythm of the danceable track.
During “I’m in Love with the Hero”, the girls were blocked in the centre of the stage by four black pieces of fabrics tumbling down from the ceiling. Moments later six had them had been lifted into the air.
Girls’ Generation then introduced themselves and greeted the crowd. Tiffany and Jessica spoke in fluent English while the others spoke in Korean.
They continued the show with “Let It Rain”, “Snowy Wish”, “Kissing You” and “Oh!” then parted ways for the first round of solo sets. Hyoyeon offered a cover of Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop The Music”, Jessica showcased her powerful vocals accompanied by the piano on “Almost”, Sunny gave a sexy performance on Britney Spears’ “Three” while Taeyeon and Tiffany shared the stage for a hot and sultry performance of “Lady Marmalade”.
The nine returned for another six songs, which included “The Boys”, a new track performed live for the first time in Bangkok and which drove the crowd wild.
In the second solo set, Yuri performed “If”, Sooyoung showed her Latin dance and foot tapping moves in “Sway”, Seohyun sang “Stuff Like That There”, and Yoona displayed her angelic voice in “4 Minutes”.
When the lights came back up, the girls were all sitting down, the better to perform the ballads “Danny Boy” and “Complete”. In the latter, fans held up posters with the words “Finally We Meet”.
The girls surprised fans with Princesslike looks taking a boat around the hall in “My Child”. The screen showed a boy, a real fan of Girls’ Generation, hallucinating about the nine girls.
As the concert neared an end, they returned to their previous hits wrapping with “Gee” and “I Want to Dream with You Forever” before waving goodbye.
The screams quickly drew them back on stage to perform three encores  “Into The New World”, “Way To Go” and “Fantastic!” – and promised fans that they’d be back in Thailand before too long.
