First Logic, a subsidiary of the country's largest information-technology group of companies, GDG Group, has set a goal of achieving Bt1.3 billion in revenue this year from providing IT solutions to businesses.

Trairatt Chaisamran, general manager of First Logic, said it would focus on providing Oracle systems across three product groups – systems and storage, database, and middleware – to the financial-services, telecommunication, manufacturing, education and energy industries.
He added that after the completion of Oracle’s acquisition of Sun Microsystems, this would be the first full year in which the company had handled Oracle products in the Thailand market. As a result, the company targets revenue of Bt1.3 billion.
“We handle three of Oracle’s four product groups. The application group is  the only one we do not take care of in the Thai market,” Trairatt said.
He added that First Logic planned to recruit 20 more system engineers to support business customers. It also plans to add 10 more system integrators to the current number of about 20.
“Most of our customers are enterprises in several critical industries. This year, we plan to sell more, so we need to prepare support teams and acquire more partners to help us sell Oracle solutions.”
He said systems and storage were the key product solutions for First Logic, capturing about 65 per cent of its sales.
The top three market sectors are financial services, telecommunication and energy. Financial services and telecom together account for about 70 per cent of the company’s revenue.
“This year, if third-generation cellular service is available in Thailand, it will drive huge demand for storage from the telecommunication sector, since the operators will have to support the growth of data traffic, which is expected to increase rapidly when the wireless broadband network is available,” Trairatt said.
He said storage area networks (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS) were the key growth areas for systems and storage. NAS is a single storage device that operates on data files, while an SAN is a local network of multiple devices that operate on disk blocks.
Formerly, First Logic was
the key Thai partner of Sun Microsystems. After Sun Microsystems was acquired by Oracle Corporation, First Logic became Oracle’s key partner in Thailand.
