Thailand Post Co and its counterparts in Asean will launch an "Asean one-price service" in each country to compete with international couriers.

“We have signed agreements with these countries but need to wait for the meeting of Asean Post in December for more details and an action plan,” president Anusara Chittmittrapap said yesterday.
She will also chair the next Asean Post meeting in Laos.
Each of the national postal operators is struggling to fight back against international couriers that provide cheaper and faster services.
Ahead of the Asean one-price service, Thailand Post is offering a one-price box for Bt1,400 with unlimited weight for Laos with its LogisPost World service.
The Asean Post gathering will include China, Japan and South Korea. It is hoped that their attendance will allow Asean countries to learn from their experiences and enable the 10 members of the Southeast Asian bloc to initiate more seamless services in the future.
Yesterday Thailand Post executives visited Laos Post in Vientiane to arrange collaboration on postal services. Thailand Post has set up Udon Thani as a mail and logistics hub for Laos to speed up deliveries.
This year Thailand Post forecasts Bt2 billion in profit on Bt20 billion in revenue. It earned Bt1.2 billion on revenue of Bt10.6 billion in the first half. This was slightly above the target of Bt1-billion profit and Bt10.1-billion revenue, thanks to a surge in e-commerce, which drove logistics revenue to Bt4.56 billion, or 43.1 per cent of total revenue.
Regular postal services brought in revenue of Bt4.83 billion, or 46.2 per cent of the total.
The World Cup contributed Bt480 million from the sale of postcards in a lucky-draw campaign with the country’s biggest-circulation newspaper, Thai Rath, of which only Bt67 million was booked in the first half. The rest will be booked in the second half.
