The Street Ratchada set to open early next month

TCC ASSETS, a property development arm of liquor tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, yesterday announced it would open The Street Ratchada, a lifestyle mall with many of its outlets operated around the clock, on December 2.

Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi, chief executive of TCC Assets (Thailand), said The Street formed part of the company’s policy to focus on developing multi-use projects.
Other projects will soon follow on Rama IV road and in other areas, he said.
Located on a 16-rai (2.5 hectare) plot which used to house Robinson Department Store’s Ratchadaphisek branch, The Street has been developed at an investment cost of Bt2.3 billon.
The company aims to make the 30,000-square-metre lifestyle mall a new hangout venue for people who live in nearby areas.
Panote said a beer garden would be opened on the frontage of The Street from its inauguration date.
The Street is designed to have an open space of 4,000 square metres – the biggest in the Ratchada area – at the front of its mall, to allow it to hold activities all year round.
The company plans to hold a New Year countdown event at the venue. The Street has five storeys, plus an underground floor. Twenty-five shops on the B and 1 levels – including a Foodland Supermarket, a 7-Eleven and a Thailand Post service store – will be open around the clock. Its top floor will house the first outlet in Thailand of Bounce Free-Jumping Revolution, a giant indoor trampoline playground developed by an Australian company.
Pongsak Nantawannakul, managing director of The Street Retail Development, said The Street had been developed under the unique concept of “SIP. WALK. TALK. SHARE”, in order to serve the new lifestyle of new-generation consumers, which is not limited by time.
For instance, there is a take-home food court on the ground floor to serve condominium residents.
According to the company, there are about 600,000 people registered in several districts within a 5-kilometre radius of The Street.
In the Ratchadaphisek area alone, some 100,000 people live in condominium units, and there are roughly 52,000 hotel rooms.
