Hot shot Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul upset Chinese fourth seed He Yecong 6-4 6-4 to reserve a spot in the second round of the US$10,000 Cal-Comp and XYZ Printing ITF Thailand Pro Circuit Men’s Futures 3 at True Arena Hua Hin on Monday.

The 21-year-old young gun who just celebrated his first ATP Challenger doubles title with fellow player Kittipong Wachiramanowong in Bangkok on Saturday stamped his authority over the 549 th ranked Chinese whom he beat in three sets two weeks ago in the second round of Thailand Futures 1 here.

“I’m quite confident with my game especially coming from my win in the Bangkok Challenger. My groundstrokes are quite solid and I feel comfortable at the net. I played better than the last time I beat him,” said Wishaya who came back from a long nagging shoulder injury that bothered him for a year and a half.

“My shoulder feels much better. I try to focus on my fitness to keep my shoulder strong and at the same time arrange my schedule properly. That’s why I decide to skip the doubles event to avoid overusing it,” added Wishaya who will play either Chinese  Huixin Wang or countryman Chayanon Kaewsuto, both from the qualification, in the next round.

Left-hander Phassawit Burapharitta was the other winning Thai in the singles actions on Monday. He beat wild card holder Pawin Jirapoomdaje 6-1 6-1.

However the miserable season of Pol  Wattanakul continued as the Thai No 1 suffered his eight straight first round defeat, losing to former world junior No 3 Yunseong Chung of South Korean 6-3 2-6 6-3. The other Thai who was shown the exit was teenage Natthasith Kunsuwan, a wildcard holder who went down to Japanese fifth seed Issei Okamura 6-2 4-6.

In the doubles first round, Kittipong and Pruchya Isarow, seeded second, were upset by Japanese Yuichi Ito and Jumpei Yamasaki 6-2 6-4. Top pair John Paul Fruttero of the US and Bowen Quyang of China beat Ruikai Wang and Ruisuan Wang of China 6-2 6-2.
