Take your sweetheart soaring in the Peninsula Hotel's helicopter

ONE SURE way to show a sweetheart on Valentine’s Day that your love is heading for new heights is booking a table at the Peninsula Bangkok’s Fly High Champagne Afternoon Tea. It includes a ride in a helicopter.
Yes, come February 14, you and your darling can spend 15 minutes soaring over the city in a chopper shared with one other cuddling couple.
One that incredible moment of excitement is over, the real romance can begin. The Valentine’s Afternoon Tea served in the hotel cafe The Lobby promises to be as relaxing as it is luxurious.

The sky’s the limit for love

An exciting skyhigh ride awaits guests on the hotel’s helipad.

It entails handcrafted sweet and savoury nibbles such as Lobster Roll with Wasabi, Caviar and Asparagus and Ham Terrine with Pickled Lemon. There’s also Smoked Chicken Breast Vol-au-vents, Goat-cheese Quiche, Golden Apple Tarts, Opera Cake, Red-berry Chantilly Choux and plenty more.
The price for all this – the sky ride and the swank lunch – is Bt33,333 net. If you want the helicopter to yourselves, that can be arranged too for Bt88,888, which buys a few extra perks too. The pilot has to come along, of course – that’s the law.
This more expensive Valentine’s celebration – which can be enjoyed anytime in February – begins with a welcoming drink in the Paribatra Lounge on the hotel’s 37th floor. The views of the Chao Phraya River and city skyline are spectacular, but at this point you’re just warming up.

Fine tea and coffee are on offer along with the exquisite nibbles.

Next it’s off to the hotel’s helipad, where the whirlybird awaits to whisk you off into the blue for a look at Bangkok that few people ever get to see.
Back on terra firm, almost, the Paribatra Lounge has your private afternoon tea-for-two all ready, complete with a bottle of Peninsula Champagne.
Guys, if you two still aren’t married, this is an excellent time to pop the question, because if your sweetie says yes, you get a night’s stay in a Deluxe Suite with the hotel’s compliments.
Lest the Peninsula’s high-flying romance scare off anyone afraid of heights, the Peninsula Academy has another option. It’s conducting love-theme Chocolate Making Classes from Wednesday through February 14.

The hotel’s talented kitchen team, a very sweet group themselves, led by executive pastry chef Nicolas Pelloie, guide guests in the art of crafting heart-shaped chocolates and personalised pralines that will make great Valentine gifts for a beloved one.
Each class costs Bt4,000 per person and has to have at least two people and be booked 48 hours in advance.
