Flood victims pressure govt over slow compensation

A group of Pathum Thani residents upset at insufficient compensation for last year's flood submitted an appeal Tuesday to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, demanding support from the government.
The petition from the Western Pathum Thani disaster mitigation coordinator’s group, backed by 5,000 signatures, was passed on via Deputy PM and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit.
The move followed four roadblocking protests by Lam Lukka district residents demanding fair flood compensation payments. Months ago they also appealed to the provincial authority, which urged them to resubmit the damage information for a compensation review.
