The truth is incontrovertible

The truth is incontrovertible

What is becoming one of the most tedious, snivelling, perfidious apologist pro-Trump conversations in The Nation continues, with yet more self-directed gossip between alter egos, congratulating themselves on their absolute detachment from reality.

One of the voices in that collective head offers this gem for sensible people to chortle at: “At last; it is so refreshing to hear (the operative word) from a writer who has not succumbed to mindless propaganda (sic) and is capable of thinking for themselves. Thank you, HHB.”
This pitiful Pavlovian posturing runs contrary to the common sense of the overwhelming majority, perhaps best exemplified by Trump’s latest bout of crass stupidity regarding the Paris Climate Accords; out of all the countries that align themselves with sanity, Trump, however, has two like-minded fellow travellers: Nicaragua and that byword for rationality and stability, Syria. Who are we, in the preponderance, to argue with such flatulent outbursts from the heavily outnumbered?
Who are we, indeed, to agree with globally acknowledged professionals in psychiatry and other learned professions, who concur that Trump carries so much crippling psychological baggage around with him? This, remember, runs contrary to The Voices who purport to know better than the experts.
In the face of such conspicuous foolishness, then, it may be wise to dwell on what Churchill warned we, the sane, to consider what we own: “The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.”
Dr Frank
