The Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) has established a new subsidiary, “Smart EV Bike Co Ltd”, to venture into the electric motorcycle hire purchase business.

The primary target market for this firm will be motorcycle taxi drivers operating near BTS train stations.

The subsidiary’s establishment was officially announced through the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) recently and its objectives were listed as providing electric motorcycle hire purchase services to motorcycle taxi drivers and engaging in related businesses associated with such services.

The company’s registered capital is 20 million baht divided into 200,000 common shares, each with a par value of 100 baht.

BTS retains a controlling 66.7% stake in the subsidiary, while the remaining 33.3% is held by Win No Nee Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited (BCP).

The capital for this venture comes from Smart EV Bike’s working capital, with a three-member board of directors overseeing its operations. Two of the board members are nominated by the company.
