Kiatnakin earmarks 16 provinces fit for property investment

About 16 provinces are seen as attractive for property investment, according to Kiatnakin Bank.

Suwannee Wattanavekin, executive vice president of the bank, said that amid economic challenges, property investment yielded a 9-per-cent return on average, higher than other investment assets, given higher demand from urbanisation, state investment projects, special economic zones and limited land plots.
The recovery of the Thai economy remains fragile because of sluggish private consumption and investment, slow state spending, slumping exports, and high household debts.
Suwannee said the 16 provinces seen as attractive for property investment could be grouped into three areas. The first group consists of Bangkok and nearby provinces Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom and Samut Prakan.
The second group is Chiang Mai, Phuket, Phitsanulok, Khon Kaen and Chon Buri, which have benefited from urban growth as a result of trade, investment and tourism, and being in the logistics network for the Greater Mekong Subregion.
The third group consists of six provinces – Songkhla, Chiang Rai, Tak, Mukdahan, Nong Khai and Kanchanaburi – on rising border investment and trade, GMS activity and the promotion of special economic zones.
“Now is the time for investment, and property is an alternative for investors. We see low interest rates after the [Bank of Thailand’s] recent policy-rate cut to 1.75 per cent with no rise in construction-material prices,” Suwannee said.

VN’s Jetstar Pacific opens second Bangkok route
Vietnam’s Jetstar Pacific Airlines is celebrating the successful launch of its first direct service between Hanoi and Bangkok after Flight BL668 landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday.
This follows the recent launch of daily flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok, and will further support the growing demand for low-fare flights among travellers and businesspeople between Vietnam and Thailand, as well as delivering a boost for local tourism.
Jetstar Pacific’s Hanoi-to-Bangkok flights will operate daily on a 180-seat Airbus A320. Flight BL667 will depart Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport at 11.10am. From Bangkok, Flight BL668 will depart Suvarnabhumi at 2.35pm. Total flight time is around one hour and 50 minutes.
The Jetstar Group is a low-cost-airline brand in the Asia-Pacific region including Jetstar Pacific (Vietnam), Jetstar Asia (Singapore), Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Australia and New Zealand, with more than 60 destinations in 16 countries worldwide.
Currently the Jetstar Group operates 28 round-trip flights between Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, 35 between Singapore and Bangkok, and seven between Hanoi and Bangkok, connecting the three countries and the Jetstar network in the Asia-Pacific region.
Le Hong Ha, chief executive of Jetstar Pacific, said there was a huge demand for low-fare flights in both Thailand and Vietnam.
