As of 6am on Saturday, a total of 77 mild aftershocks were recorded in Myanmar following the massive 8.2-magnitude earthquake near Mandalay on Friday afternoon, according to the Thai Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Observation Division.

Shops closed and parents rushed to schools to pick up their children, following rumours that a curfew had been imposed banning public members from leaving home after 2 p.m. in the town of Sagaing on Monday.
