Old Visakha Puja rituals still observed by Phichit Buddhist community

Residents of an ancient Buddhist community in the northern province of Phichit handed out alms to monks on Sunday to mark the long-held tradition of Visakha Puja Day.
Yellow-clad Thais across the nation got up early on Saturday to give alms to Buddhist monks in rites to mark the second anniversary of the passing of their beloved His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
A man opened fire at his neighbour’s family members while they were giving alms offerings Tuesday morning resulting in one death and three injuries in Surin’s Muang district. Police were investigating the motive for the attack as of press time.
