Silver Shadow takes to the seas

Silversea's ultra-luxurious Silver Shadow made its inaugural call-to-port at the newly opened Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore last weekend.

The Silver Shadow’s maiden voyage to the new cruise terminal was a significant moment for Silversea. The terminal’s state-of-the-art facilities will enhance the travel experience of Silversea’s guests with a more streamlined embarkation and disembarkation at Singapore’s waterfront precinct. The 382-guest ship is on the first leg of its nine-day voyage to Hong Kong, with stops at various ports in Vietnam including Ho Chi Minh, Nha Trang, Chan May, Ha Long Bay and Cai Lan before arriving in Hong Kong on Friday.

Portugal gives surf guarantee
Vacation spots have already introduced guarantees for snow and sunshine. Now Portugal is introducing a guarantee of waves for surfers who up to December spend at least four days in the country. If they do not have waves of at least half a metre at 28 vacation spots, their trip is free of charge. The Turismo de Portugal tourism office reports that more than 100 hotels along the Portuguese coast are participating in the wave guarantee offer.

Singapore’s best dressed
Singapore is turning into a sea of lights in the run-up to the Christmas season. From now through January 6, shopping boulevard Orchard Road is brightly illuminated and the “Best Dressed Building Contest” is already in full swing, with buildings competing for the title of the “prettiest lighting”. The public gets to choose the winner.

Traditional toasts in Bath
The traditional Christmas market in Bath opens on Sunday, and through December 9 the steam will not only be rising from the Roman thermal baths, but also from the cups containing the hot mulled wine. With Bath Cathedral as the setting, visitors can stroll among more than 120 booths, with all the items on offer being hand-made and from the region. – DPA
