The BMTA revived two bus routes from Don Muang International Airport early this year. You can now take the A1 Bus from Don Mueang to the Victory Monument as well as the A2 Bus from Don Mueang to MoChit Bus Terminal in Chatuchak. The fare for both is Bt30. If you don't want to take a bus, it's easy enough to get a taxi to the Mo-Chit Bus Terminal. From here, buses to Pattaya depart every 30-40 minutes between 4.30am and 10pm, weekends included. You can also choose which bus route you’d prefer before booking. One uses the motorway and the fare is Bt133; the other goes along via Bangna-Trad road and the Burapa Vithi Tollway. The fare is Bt124.
We are planning a trip to Sapa in Vietnam at the end of May. Most people I know go there in winter, can you tell me what the town is like in May? Is it a good time to go trekking? Thank a lot for your help. Zara
Sapa is a mountainous district perched at an altitude of 1,600metres and 38km from Lao Cai. Average temperature is 15-18 degrees Celsius, so it’s cool in summer and cold in winter. Many visitors prefer to visit Sapa in summer, meaning April and May. Go before April and the weather might be cold and foggy. After that, expect heavy showers as Vietnam enters the rainy season. The end of May is still fine with plenty of blooms amidst the green. Trekking routes are dry and there are good opportunities to do longer treks and to conquer Mount Fansipan, the highest mountain in Vietnam at 3,143 metres.
Sapa has many natural attractions, among them Ham Rong Mountain, the Silver Waterfall, the Rattan Bridge, Bamboo Forest and Ta Phin Cave. Many climbers come here to hike to the top of Fansipan. In comparison to Nepal or India, the trekking in Sapa is easy. But because of the rapid weather changes and steep ascents/descents, local tour operators usually classify most trekking routes as moderate.
