Lawyers for Mining Pro Co Ltd filed a defamation case against Sondhi and his company Anew Son at the Bangkok criminal court on Wednesday
The case is seeking 29 million baht in damages from the defendants.
Also named in the lawsuit are the company’s directors, Thantanatpak Wannawatanakit, Winner Thunthorn and Teetawat Sangworavechapan.
The preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 15.
Sondhi is also being sued in a separate defamation case brought by Titan CEO Tantai Narongkoon last month. Tantai is seeking 1 billion baht in damages after Sondhi accused him of involvement with criminal enterprises and money laundering.
In the latest case, Pro Mining Co representative Sompong Tanpaibool said Sondhi had made repeated accusations via “Sondhi Talk” on various platforms, damaging the company’s reputation and causing misunderstanding. This had provoked hatred and insults targeted at the company, he added.
“He has also used his social media channels with large numbers of followers to repeatedly spread misinformation, alleging that Mining Pro Co Ltd unlawfully used public electricity,” Sompong said.
He called on Sondhi to stop using his media channels to damage others and instead face his opponents with evidence in court.
“If he [Sondhi] is bold enough to make accusations against others, he must face the consequences,” said Sompong.
