‘It’s so delicious,’ Srettha praises Kaeng Tai Pla on Koh Samui
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin ate Kaeng Tai Pla while having lunch on Koh Samui, Surat Thani province, on Sunday.
“It’s so delicious,” Srettha said after he ate the southern signature dish while visiting the tourist-destination island, and raised his thumb in approval.
Last month, the TasteAtlas website announced that Kaeng Tai Pla had been ranked as the worst dish in the world by its readers, prompting many Thais to cry foul, saying it was delicious in southern hot and spicy style but foreigners were not used to it.
Srettha said foreigners might not like Kaeng Tai Pla because they prefer different kinds of foods.
He said foreigners liked many Thai dishes and Thais could not force them to like what the natives love.
“But I must say this Kaeng Tai Pla is very delicious,” Srettha added.
It is known that the authentic taste of southern curries, especially Kaeng Tai Pla, is very spicy – spicier than the version of made by central people. who tend to tone down the spiciness.
