Bolt Affirms Thailand Commitment, Boosts Safety Standards

Bolt confirms continued Thailand operations, prioritizing safety and regulatory compliance through enhanced driver verification and passenger support.

Bolt, the global leader in ride-hailing services, has officially reaffirmed its commitment to the Thai market following high-level discussions with regulatory authorities.

The company confirmed that its services remain fully operational across the country while it navigates the ongoing electronic platform certification process, ensuring uninterrupted access to transportation for millions of users.

Fostering a Competitive & Fair Ecosystem

The recent meetings with government stakeholders focused on establishing a balanced regulatory framework that encourages fair competition while elevating industry-wide safety. Bolt has been proactive in adopting recommendations from these authorities to align its operations with Thailand’s evolving digital economy goals.

"Safety remains our highest priority, alongside supporting a fair and competitive ecosystem across the industry," said Nathadon Suksiritarnan, General Manager of Bolt Thailand. "We remain committed to serving passengers in Thailand while continuously improving a transparent and reliable platform."

Multi-Dimensional Safety Enhancements

In response to industry challenges and recent feedback, Bolt has introduced a suite of proactive measures designed to strengthen the integrity of its platform:

Advanced Driver Verification: The company has shortened the time window for its facial recognition "selfie checks." Drivers are now required to verify their identity more frequently to prevent account sharing and impersonation.

Zero-Tolerance Enforcement: Bolt has tightened its internal policies. Any driver found violating platform rules, particularly regarding account security, faces immediate and permanent termination.

Regulatory Support for Drivers: To ensure long-term compliance, Bolt is actively assisting its driver-partners in obtaining official public driving licenses and necessary vehicle registrations (RY.17 and RY.18).

Compassionate Incident Response: Addressing a recent incident from late April, Bolt confirmed it provided immediate medical and mental health support to the affected passenger, emphasizing its responsibility toward user well-being.

A Sustainable Path Forward

The company’s strategy involves not only maintaining its current service levels but also investing in initiatives that lower the barriers for new drivers to enter the gig economy legally and safely.

"Bolt will continue investing in initiatives that help reduce barriers for drivers entering the platform and contribute to improving mobility standards for people across Thailand under internationally aligned regulatory practices," Suksiritarnan added.

By working closely with Thai authorities, Bolt aims to contribute to the nation’s digital transformation while setting a benchmark for transportation safety and reliability in Southeast Asia.
