Thailand’s FIFA loss to China among topics of discussion for Xi, Srettha
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Chinese President Xi Jinping stopped to have a quick informal chat before entering the 30th APEC Economic Leaders’ meeting on Friday, and one of the main topics of discussion was football.
Thailand lost 1-2 to China in the 2023 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in the Asian zone. The game was held in Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium on Thursday.
“I extended my congratulations to President Xi for the Chinese football team’s victory over Thailand in the World Cup qualifying round.
“President Xi also wished success for the Thai team to win and qualify for the World Cup," Srettha said after the summit.
The 30th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting San Francisco, themed “Building an Inclusive and Sustainable Economy through Connectivity”, is being held at San Francisco’s Moscone Centre.
