"Design-based communication is now playing a big role as non-verbal communications especially in the digitised market," Pongsak Sanitwongse Na Ayudhaya, executive vice president of the new unit, said yesterday.
The division starts with 45 art directors and graphic designers from Dentsu Plus in Thailand and Japan, then is expected to increase staff to 70 in the next phase.
UNIQUE TOOLS
The unit will develop effective and efficient communications for its clients as well as generate income for the company on top of current service fees.
It will support other parts of the agency to create unique and free-form communication tools such as branded premiums or characters.
For example, Mister Donut's Pon de Lion products were designed by Dentsu Design Ninja in Japan.
This can build brand awareness effectively among consumers.
This new service will be offered to new as well as existing clients including Suntory Food and Beverage, Honda Motor and AP Honda, a motorcycle maker.
The company expects to realise income from Dentsu Plus Design Ninja within two years, though this year Pongsak aims to increase billings by 15 per cent to Bt1.5 billion.
